About Us
Our Mission Statement
At Dare to Share we focus our attention on meeting
native Zimbabweans' basic needs: food, healthcare, housing, education, and
clothing. We offer a "hand-up," not a "hand-out." Each person supported by Dare
to Share contributes in some way to Dare to Share’s ongoing initiatives. These
initiatives include (but are not limited to) feeding programs, medical support,
school opportunities, micro-loans, sewing circles, and farm outreach.
Jonathan Daniel
President and Co-Founder of Dare to Share
Jonathan Daniel, the oldest of nine children, was born in 1965 to illiterate
parents in Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia). His family was extremely poor, and he
spent his childhood yearning for basic necessities such as food, education, and
proper clothes.
Though poor in material possessions, the Daniel family was rich in values and
tradition. Poverty forced Jonathan to become both adventurous and creative.
Forced to make his own toys (or go without any play items), Jonathan would not
understand his artistic talents until much later in life.
In 1992, after earning a degree from Zimbabwe Christian College, Jonathan’s
determination and talent led him to study Aircraft Mechanics at Lively Aviation
in Florida. Jonathan has worked as a youth minister and wire artist in the U.S.
In 1998, he and his wife Robin began to follow their dream of helping provide a
future for native people in Zimbabwe. In 2000, Dare to Share was established as
a 501 (c) 3 organization. Much of the work is funded by Jonathan’s artistic
gifts, as he sells his wire art to support the cause in Zimbabwe.
Robin Daniel
Secretary and Co-Founder of Dare to Share
Robin Daniel was raised in a small, economically depressed area of Kentucky.
Believing there was more than life at the foothills of the Appalachian
Mountains, Robin earned a full scholarship to Denison University (Ohio) and
Oxford University (England). After doing graduate work at the University of
South Carolina, Robin turned her passion for education outward and began a
teaching career. Having taught 2nd grade through High School, Robin has a gift
and passion for working with youth of all ages.
Through her marriage to Jonathan and their work and travels together, Robin has
embraced the people and country of Zimbabwe as a native. Her passion and energy
are devoted to the prosperity and continuation of the support Dare to Share
provides for native Zimbabweans.
